It is often necessary to take an X-ray to obtain an accurate diagnosis. We will explain the need and we will only take pictures with your agreement. However, you should know that we use this type of examination only when absolutely necessary.
We are equipped with state-of-the-art digital X-ray devices that are completely harmless for your child. Direct digital radiography is a modern dental examination technique with very low radiation (the radiation rate is reduced by more than 70%). It is also a process ecological because no chemical solution is necessary.
Guided local electrical anesthesia makes it possible to optimally perform all types of anesthesia for your child. We have no more conventional syringes in the office and perform all our anesthesia with a pen-shaped handpiece that does not scare the child.
The anesthesia is completely painless, fast and durable, almost without numbness and avoids the self-bite of the lips, cheek or tongue after the procedure dental.
Your child will not be afraid of the sting!
In some cases dental care is not feasible in the office, so we recommend an outpatient care under general anesthesia. The goal is to provide the necessary care without leaving a bad image. The general anesthesia induces amnesia in the child and therefore an absence of trauma for the latter, vis-à-vis the situation of care. It also contributes to the child's return to more conventional care in the office.
Dr. Jona Andersen treats children under general anesthesia in a private clinic, the Marcel Sembat Clinic in Boulogne-Billancourt.
There are several methods to help anxious children live better at the dentist. Often these children have had a history of bad experiences. Motivation or hypnosis manifests itself in most cases, especially conscious sedation with MEOPA,a sedative safe, very effective calm the anxiety of the child. Sedation rips the session less stressful, help the child to relax, to cope, to feel happier during treatment and to guide them towards more cooperative behavior. The conscious sedation allows the child to communicate permanently, to follow the instructions and to cooperate during the whole procedure. MEOPA is issued through a mask, which is placed on the nose. The gas relaxes the child quickly, and can produce happy and euphoric behavior. It has an action fast, painless, and dissipates in minutes.
The term MEOPA means "equimolar mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide". It is a gaseous mixture, administered using a mask to relax your child. He favors his physical and psychic comfort by relaxing him without putting him to sleep; it is not a general anesthesia, but a conscious sedation.
This mixture is administered during part or all of the dental session. Simply breathe the gas naturally. The first effects appear within 3 to 5 minutes. Your child will stay conscious and awake during the whole session. After stopping the administration, the relaxing effect disappears completely within 3 to 5 minutes. You can then leave our practice with your child and he / she will be able to continue his activities.
MEOPA conscious sedation uses a medication prescribed and used by specially trained dentists.
This medicine is a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide that is inhaled using a mask.
It promotes physical and mental comfort by making relaxed and relaxed without falling asleep.
MEOPA acts when the child inhales the gas with a mask adapted to his face.
Breathed, the gas acts in 3 minutes.
After removal of the mask, the drug is eliminated very quickly. A few minutes of rest on the chair are enough before leaving the dental office.
In the majority of cases, yes. Often MEOPA is used in combination with other means to have less pain (distraction, local anesthesia, hypnosis, premedication etc.).
Sometimes the difficulty is to get the child to breathe through the nose, otherwise the gas can not work. This is why it is better to postpone a dental session under MEOPA if your child has a cold.
The gas has no particular smell.
With conscious sedation, the child is awake but relaxed. Serene, the child hears and sees what is happening around you. It can therefore focus quietly on the cartoon that he chose and that appears on the TV above the dental chair.
The drug also works against painful sensations, the child will not even feel the local anesthetic!
Our team is specifically trained to perform sedations under MEOPA. Only a trained and certified medical team can administer this gas.
The child must avoid eating during the two hours preceding the MEOPA dental session.
No dairy products or heavy meals on the day of the appointment (choose light meals in small portions).
Some known side effects (dreams, agitation, euphoria, nausea, vomiting, vertigo ...) can occur manifest during the administration.
In case of discomfort, sedation will be interrupted because these possible effects disappear as soon as the treatment is stopped.
Medical hypnosis is practiced by our entire team. It is an effective and indispensable instrument in the psycho-behavioral accompaniment of the children during the care carried out in our office. Hypnosis works by focusing on the child's awareness of the non-threatening aspects of the experience while he is in a modified state of consciousness. By telling stories positive and by diverting the child's attention from the treatment, we help him to enter an imaginary world, while remaining receptive. We use positive concepts, for example, discussing care in language appropriate to the age of the child, telling stories, maintaining continuous verbal contact, caring for the child even after care, congratulate him, which reinforces the positive feelings. Hypnosis also allows a reduced perception of pain and leaves positive memories on the treatment session.
In some cases, we use the laser to replace the cutter (roulette) and thus remove the discomfort of vibration, noise and pressure. Thanks to the laser, there is no more physical contact with the child's tooth. The sole energy of light is sufficient to treat dental sensitivities, cavities, frenectomies (removal of the brake), inflammation of the gums and supportive tissues of the milk tooth. The precision of the laser avoids damage to neighboring tissues and allows a global treatment, at least, extremely targeted, as well as a sterilization of cavities and tissues. Thanks to their bio-stimulation effects (regeneration of the gingiva and the bone), the laser techniques allow a much faster healing than with the traditional methods. In addition, anesthesia can often be avoided, which is a huge benefit for our young patients.
Among the laser techniques, the frenectomy (removal of a labial or lingual brake) is a surgical practice intended to sever large brakes which have periodontal incidences or interference with a treatment Orthodontic. The laser frenectomy, performed under local anesthesia, is a fast and very simple technique to implement thanks to a perfect hemostasis that allows a incomparable cutting precision. The children appreciate this instrument thanks to minor operative sequences without stitches. Children accept it easily in likening it to their toys or cartoons where the word laser often comes back, which allows us to get good cooperation.
